South African law on tattoos and piercings

South Africa is one of few countries with no age limit governing tattoos, but according to the Children's act 38 of 2005 tattooing of a minor amounts to maltreatment and makes it an offence to tattoo anyone under the age of 18 years. The Act is enforced by government.
